1K a year 2 hours ago 2 hours ago 2 hours ago JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Unit Manager the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) performs secretarial and receptionist duties associated with the patient care unit while serving as a focal communication source at the nursing station.
The HUC maintains patient records, transcribes physician orders, assist in coordination of patient location, and maintains order at the nursing station.
Job Specific:
1.
Acts as receptionist by greeting staff, ancillary services, physicians, and the public and offers assistance (EF)as appropriate.
2.
Answers telephone and patient intercom promptly and courteously conveys messages accurately and appropriately in a timely manner.
(EF) 3.
Transcribes physician orders in timely manner, assuring accuracy and compliance with current policies and procedures.
(EF) 4.
Maintains charts with adequate forms; verifying all are labeled correctly and contain correct patient information prior to placing in the chart.
(EF) 5.
Orders supplies/forms based on unit needs in a cost effective manner.
(EF) 6.
Facilitates admissions, transfers, and discharges according to charge nurse, physician, and discharge planner instructions.
(EF) 7.
Handles patient medical information with emphasis on patient rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
(EF) 8.
Maintains cleanliness and order at the nursing station.
(EF) 9.
Facilitates maintenance of equipment by completing maintenance requests.
(EF) 10.
Demonstrates Service Excellence Initiatives by presenting a positive first impression; anticipates customer needs, and is actively involved in role of Team Player(EF) 11.
Complies with Employee Health requirements for employment(EF) 12.
Follows universal precautions.
