Post personal and insurance mail checks received.
Responsible for custody of receipts, cash box, drawer and preparation of hospital receipts for bank deposits, reconciliation and handling.
Job Specific:
Collects payment from patient or guarantor.
(EF) Issues a valid receipt and provides a copy to the payer.
(EF) Responsible for handling of payments according to hospital policy.
(EF Checks are restrictively endorsed, credit cards are electronically transmitted noting approval codes and posted to the patient account using appropriate transaction codes.
(EF) Maintains a Daily Cashier Reconciliation and Recap Report for the purpose of balancing and auditing.
(EF) Deposit all funds in bank bags placing in the drop safe and/or lock box at the end of each shift.
(EF) Documents all account activity in the patient account record in computer.
Answer questions regarding patient billing with a positive customer service attitude.
Provide additional coverage for other areas within the department as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by Business Office Department Manager.
Sorts and distributes incoming mail to hospital departments.
Hospital:

Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Required:
High School plus specialized training, clerical and financial functions of a hospital facility Preferred:
One (1) to two (2) years of college EXPERIENCE Required:
Requires detailed knowledge of counting/handling money and deposit transactions and the ability to work independently and with others.
Preferred:
Previous banking or similar experience.
